Lesnak, Anne Marie (31 JUL 1923 – 13 SEP 2015)
Anne Marie Lesnak, nee Jerina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13,
2015. Anne was born in Owen, WI on July 31, 1923 to John and Mary (Cerk) Jerina.
She spent her formative years there, graduating from Owen High School in 1942
and from St Joseph School of Nursing, Marshfield, WI in 1945. Anne moved to
Illinois in 1946 where she met future husband, Anthony Lesnak. They were married
on October 29, 1949 and two sons were born to their union. Anne worked part time
at North Chicago VA during her sons early years and participated in their school
activities. In 1975 Anne was instrumental in establishing an Alcoholism
Treatment facility for the Lake County Health Department, and it remains a
viable accredited program. She then returned to North Chicago VA and retired in
1978 after 25 Years of service. She was a member of Mother of God for many years
and later at St. Dismas Parish. Her activities included: St. Dismas Women's
Club, Catholic Women's Club, St. Joseph's KSKJ, VA Retirees, US Steel Workers
Retiree Club and Slovenic National Home. Anne loved her Slovenian heritage and
visited relatives in Slovenia several times.
Anne is survived by her husband of 65 years, Anthony, sons Robert (Donna) and
John (Terri), grandsons Brian (Kelli) and Kevin (Saya) and great grandchildren:
Taylor, Ty, Reese and Ryan. She was preceded in death by her siblings Emma
Merlock, Mary Kinsey, Sophie Mivshek, Jenny Mulligan, Frances Hemersbach, Fritz
Jerina and Frank Jerina. Service will be held on Friday, September 18, at St.
Dismas Church, Waukegan, IL.
Visitation is from 8:30- 10:00 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass. Interment
will be at Ascension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contribution in Anne's name
may be made to St. Dismas Parish. Arrangements entrusted by the family to Gurnee
Salata Funeral Home, 4190 Old Grand Avenue, Gurnee IL 60031.
