Miller, Robert (14 MAR 1884 – 8 MAY 1970)
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in
Spencer for Robert Miller, 86, who died Friday at the Marshfield Convalescent
Center. The Rev. William Ruhbusch officiated and burial was made in the parish
cemetery, North Spencer.
Pallbearers were Earl Cramer, Oscar Decker, Roger Genett, A.E. Messer, George
Schwantes and Edelhardt Schade. The congregation sang "My Course is Run" and
Mrs. Karin Hansen sang "A Pilgrim and a Stranger" and "Just as I Am,"
accompanied by Mr. Norbert Brock at the organ.
Mr. Miller was born March 14, 1884 in Poland, where he received his education
before coming to America in 1906. He was married to Emma Schubert on June 6,
1909 in Chicago, and came to the Spencer area in 1911 where they settled on a
farm. They lived there until moving into Spencer in 1956. He was a member of
Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Elsie) Schwantes, Spencer; two
sons, August, Marshfield, and Charles, Colby; nine grandchildren, 21
great-grandchildren, and a brother, Ferdinand, Chicago, Ill. One sister and
three brothers preceded him in death.
