Grabara, Mary (17 December 1903 - 18 February 1974)

Mrs. George Grabara, Sr., 70, of Greenwood, died early Monday morning at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville where she was admitted February 11. Funeral services are to be held this (Thursday) morning at 9:30 a.m. from the Hill Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The Rev. Leander Koopman will officiate.

Mrs. Grabara, the former Mary Hilgarth, was born December 17, 1903, in Germany. She was married there December 14, 1924, to George Grabara, who died September 13, 1970.

The Grabaras came to the United States in 1926 and lived in Kenosha and in Milwaukee until 1948, when they moved to Greenwood where they owned and operated the Greenwood Bakery. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Grabara entered Memorial Home in Neillsville.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jerome (Elsie) Sowieja of Greenwood and Mrs. William (Mary) Weiss of Appleton; one son, George Grabara, Jr., of Greenwood; and 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Labowski of Kenosha and by a brother and a sister living in Germany.
