Tioga (14 Nov 1918)

The Red Cross met Friday afternoon and elected officers for the coming year as follows: Mrs. John Seif, chairman; Miss Esther Marquardt, vice-chairman; Mrs. Hans Hoganson, secretary; Mrs. Ed. Wightman, treasurer; Mrs. Olaf Oleson, head of the sewing, and Mrs. W.A. Bedell, head of the knitting departments. The tickets on the first quilt are sold and there is another one being finished that will be on exhibit at Palms’ store. The tickets will be sold the same as before, 10 cents each, at Palms. Hurry up if you want a chance on a good quilt for they sell like hot cakes. In a couple of weeks there will be an entertainment at which time the quilts will be raffled. Look for the date next week.

George Bedell arrived Wednesday evening to spend some time with the home folks, while awaiting his call to training camp.

Albert and Will Voight were Neillsville callers Wednesday afternoon.

Lulu Bedell and Mrs. Wm. Linster drove to Willard Tuesday afternoon.

Hans Hoganson has a new smokestack on his house.

W.E. Palms went to Neillsville on Thursday.

Lulu and George Bedell and Delia Church spent Friday evening with the Swansons.

Mr. and Mrs. Hans Hoganson entertained her brother from Blair a few days last week.

School opened in the Church district Monday, Nov. 11th, with Miss Bernice Cole of Sherry as teacher. She is boarding with John Swanson.

Bernice Cole visited with Delia Church Saturday and Sunday.
