West Eaton (14 Nov 1918)
Gertrude Davey and Genevieve Borgers came home Thursday morning from Endeavor,
Wis., where they have been going to school as the schools all closed at that
place on account of the flu.
Mrs. Theo Thelen and baby left for Cloquet, Minn., Wednesday by way of Owen to
join her husband.
Mr. and Mrs. George Gemmeke and daughter, Iola, visited Henry Gemmeke’s
Wednesday evening.
Carl Davey is steadily gaining. We are glad to hear the good news.
Mrs. H. Bostwick received a letter from Mrs. Clara Alborn last Friday from
Kettle Falls, Wash., where they are located. They like it very much. All kinds
of fruit growers there. Mr. Alborn has charge of three churches. The letter
states that Mrs. Alborn looks much better than she did in Wisconsin, weighs 170
lbs., and feels better than she has for 20 years. They wish to be remembered to
all and state that there is a great work to be done there and feel the need of
the prayers of all who pray. Their son, Jay, comes under the draft this week.
