School now in progress
School registration and beginning classes made up the schedule on Monday at the
Abbotsford grade and high school. Regular classes were conducted Tuesday.
Enrollment for the graded were 171 and for the high school 167.
Mrs. Ann Schumacher has 22 pupils in the first grade; Mrs. Vivian Kramer, second
grade, 29 pupils; Mrs. Genevieve Linehan, third grade, 15; Miss Minna Schueler,
fifth grade, 20; Mrs. Erma Vircks, sixth grade, 25; Mr. Edith Laurent, seventh
grade, 29; and Mrs. Louise Stelzel, eighth grade, 16 pupils.
In the high school, the total enrollment is 167 with the freshman and senior
classes each numbering 46, the sophomores, 39, and the juniors, 36. The freshman
class is the second largest in the history of the school. When the present
senior class started out as freshmen, they numbered the all-time high of 53.
At the hot lunch program which started Tuesday, there were 78 from the high
school and 22 from the grades, This number will increase as the weather gets
colder. Mrs. Cecil Oehler, who is in charge, is again being assisted by Mrs.
John Lindberg. Mrs. George Barker is also helping in this department.
