Hizer, Glenn C. (28 October 1908 - 18 June 1994)

Glenn C. Hizer, 85, of Black River Falls, died Saturday, June 18, 1994 in Family Heritage Nursing Home.

He was born on Oct. 28, 1908 in Rochelle, IL, to Charles and Mary (Rowley) Hizer. The family settled in the Fairchild area while he was a youngster. He was a World War II Army Veteran and served overseas in France and England. He married the former Marie M. Schulthess in Hopkinsville, KY. The couple first lived in Rice Lake and Fairchild, before settling in Black River Falls in 1955. He was employed in the family salvage yard at Fairchild where he also was employed as a logger. Since moving to Black River Falls he has owned Hizer Auto Salvage. He was a member of the Good Sam Club, the Roving Retreads and the Miles-Hagen American Legion Post #200. His wife died on April 8, 1990.

Survivors include four daughters, Lena (Leland) Evins and Anita Miller, both of Sparta, Sonya Hizer of Anchorage, AK, and Suzanne (William) Lauscher of West Salem; four sons: Charles, Donald (Shirley) and Samuel (Betty) Hizer, all of Black River Falls, and Gale Hizer of Anchorage, AK; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters; Gladys Bedell and Leona Zimbauer, both of Fairchild.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Dale; a daughter, Carol; and a sister, Fern Marshall.

Funeral services for Glenn C. Hizer will be Thursday, June 23, at 11 a.m. from the Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls. The Rev. Cheryl Matthews will officiate and burial, with military honors, will be in Riverside Cemetery, Black River Falls.

Friends may call at the Buswell Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday one hour prior to services.

Casket bearers will be: Wayne Evins, Josh Kilday, James Hizer, Perry Nichols, Doug Hizer, and Travis Nichols.
