Washburn (28 February 1974)
Oliver Williams returned home Wednesday from a Marshfield hospital. He was taken
ill at a Marshfield store and was taken to the hospital by ambulance and was a
patient there several days for X-rays and tests.
Tom Spiegel, son of Mrs. Alfred Spiegel, has been a patient at Memorial Hospital
since February 12 when he injured his back in physical education class at
Neillsville High School, where he is a junior.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Pretsch and family of Stratford spent the weekend with his
mother, Mrs. Wanda Pretsch, and son, Earl. They attended the birthday party in
honor of Earl’s 34th birthday at the Washburn Store Saturday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer, Mrs. Harold Elmendorf, Carrie Sexton, and Mr. and
Mrs. Oliver Williams attended the open house honoring the 40th anniversary of
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Larsen at Wildcat Inn a couple of weeks ago.
Mary Kingsbury, who is employed at Oshkosh, spent a few days last week with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kingsbury.
Mr and Mrs. Casper Zdun of Prosper, Mn, visited Oliver Williams at a Marshfield
hospital Tuesday. They were visiting his brother, Emil Zdun and family of
Marshfield.
Mr and Mrs. John Reinart and daughter, Judy were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Gail Lonning near Globe recently.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Piepenhagen, La Crosse, spent last weekend with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Merle Austin and David.
Mrs. Elmer Kapfer visited Mrs. Harry Kissling last Sunday.
Mr and Mrs. Lelan Dopp, Marshfield were last Sunday dinner guests of her mother,
Mrs. Irving Stevens.
Rex Galbreath and a friend of Wisconsin Rapids called on Mrs, Art Odell Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Jim) Kapfer and Mrs. Ethel Henne of West Bend spent the
weekend at the Oliver Williams home. They and Mrs. Williams visited Oliver at a
Marshfield hospital Sunday. They also called on Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Vandeberg
near Marshfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer attended the potluck dinner Sunday honoring Rev. and
Mrs. Noble at the United Methodist Church, Granton.
Mary Kingsbury, Oshkosh, and Cheryl Hohenstein visited Judy Reinart Wednesday
evening.
Bible study will be held at the Francis Jacobson home in Sherwood Thursday
evening February 28. It was postponed Thursday evening due to the bad weather.
