Janke, Orin Duane (10 May 1923 - 30 August 2015)
Orin Duane Janke, 92, of Humbird passed away Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015, at his home.
He was born May 10, 1923, in the Town of Garden Valley, Jackson County,
Wisconsin to Ludwig and Anna (Dettinger) Janke.
Orin was raised in Garden Valley on his family’s farm. He attended school in
Hixton. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Stiemke Aug. 22, 1952, at Globe
Lutheran Church, Neillsville, WI. Together they farmed in the Town of Alma, near
Humbird. Orin was a lifelong dairy farmer and was also the township assessor for
several years.
He enjoyed playing and watching baseball, working around his farm and ice
fishing. Orin was known for his great sense of humor, excellent memory and for
being a wonderful storyteller.
He is survived by his wife Jeanett; daughters: Virginia (Rick) Somers of Green
Bay, and Sally (Jerry) Malecki of Black River Falls; sons: Paul Janke of Meeker,
CO, and Steven (Jolene) Janke of Humbird; 11 grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; brother Elton (Zelda) Janke of Alma Center; and other
nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Orin was preceded in death by his parents, Ludwig and Anna; brothers, Richard
and Leo; daughter-in-law Marci Janke, son-in-law, Bruce Cormican and grandson
Kevin Cormican.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran
Church, Alma Center. Rev. Steven Stork officiated. Burial followed in East Lawn
Cemetery, Alma Center. Family and friends were invited for visitation Thursday
from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral at the church.
Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home of Hixton assisted the family with arrangements.
