Irwin, Daniel John (25 March 1948 - (February) 1974)

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sun Prairie, for Daniel John Irwin, 25, of 102A N. Union Street, Loyal. The Tuscher Funeral Home, Sun Prairie was in charge of the service. Interment was at Sun Prairie Memory Garden.

Irwin was born in Madison on March 25, 1948. After graduation from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 1971 he had joined the Loyal Public School faculty as an instructor and head basketball coach. He was first hospitalized October 31, 1973, with Leukemia.

At Loyal, Irwin was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the Loyal Lion’s Club and other professional organizations. On June 24, 1972 he was married to the former Donna Frank of Sun Prairie. She is on leave from the Spencer School System.

In addition to his wife, Irwin is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Irwin of Sun Prairie; one sister, Miss Kristy Irwin, Madison; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Irwin and Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Smith, and his great-grandmother, Mrs. Edith Howe, all of Sun Prairie.

The Loyal Public Schools and St. Anthony Catholic School was closed all day Tuesday. Members of the Loyal basketball team were pallbearers. Coaches of the athletic department were honorary pallbearers.
