Burnett, Ben (19 OCT 1891 – 22 JUN 1970)
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in
Spencer for Ben Burnett, 78, who died on Monday morning of an apparent heart
attack.
The Rev. Raymond Fleming, interim Pastor, officiated, and burial was made in the
West Spencer Cemetery. Pallbearers were Delbert Hutchins, Jack Pickett, Louis
Doering, John Orgish, Ernest Waldhart, and Harvey Gottschalk. The congregation
sang "O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing" and "O Worship the King."
Mr. Burnett was born on Oct. 19, 1891, in the township of Unity (Clark Co.,
Wis.), where he received his education, graduating from the former Unity High
School.
He was married to the former Etta Rue on July 3, 1918 at Rockford, Ill. The
couple observed their 50th wedding anniversary in 1968.
Mr. Burnett was retired but had operated a farm on which they lived at the
present time. He was a member of the United Methodist Church; a member of the
Spencer Cemetery Board; he had served as supervisor of the Town of Unity for
several years; and as school clerk for the Willow Brook District, and was a
veteran of World War I.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Ruth) Bauman, Oconto Falls; a
son, Rue Burnett, Spencer; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brothers and a sister.
