Wold, Katharine L. (22 September 1928 - 26 October 2010)
Katharine L. Wold, 82, of Black River Falls died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, in the
Black River Memorial Hospital while under the care of Black River Memorial
Hospice.
Katharine was born Sept. 22, 1928, in Eau Claire to Frederick and Hallie
(Vinton) Laffe. She was raised in Eau Claire and Humbird. She graduated from
Humbird high School and then attended nursing school in Eau Claire for one year.
Katharine married Orrin Wold Sept. 6, 1951, in Humbird.
Katharine was an avid seamstress and quilter. She enjoyed cooking and canning
and worked at the extension office where she taught cooking and canning.
Surviving are two sons, Gordon (Susan) Wold, Black River Falls, and John Wold,
Osseo; two step-grandchildren, Holly and Kimberly Brierton; and several nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Orrin, Oct. 10, 2007; her parents; a
brother Frederick Laffe and a sister Henrietta.
Memorial funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at the
Little Norway Lutheran Church, Pastor Calvin Thoreson officiated and burial was
in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends called at the church Saturday from
10 a.m. until the time of services.
The family prefers memorials be given to either the Little Norway Lutheran
Church or to Black River Memorial Hospice.
Torgerson’s Funeral Service of Black River Falls assisted the family with
arrangements.
