Washburn (7 March 1974)
The youth group met with Mr. and Mrs. George Gorbet last week Monday evening.
Rev. and Mrs. Ralph Schram and daughter were supper guests of the Gorbets before
the meeting.
Harry Carstenson returned home Friday from Luther Hospital in Eau Claire where
he had been a surgical patient since last week.
Mrs. Art Williams is a patient at Neillsville Memorial Hospital since Thursday
with a blood clot in her right leg.
Mr. and Mrs. George Gorbet and family were Sunday guests of her mother, Mrs.
Lucy Johnson at Warrens. It was a family gathering of the Johnson family and
relatives.
Mrs. Walter Trachte and Mrs. Wanda Pretsch called on Mrs. Frank Short at
Memorial Home and Tom Spiegel at Memorial Hospital Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Stewart of Verona were Sunday guests of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Ralph Short. Their oldest daughter, Jovey, graduated from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison in December and has employment with the Cuna Insurance Company
in Madison.
Mrs. Paul Groskreutz of Wausau spent Tuesday and Wednesday with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Bernard Kuhn She came after her son, Paul who spent a few weeks with
his grandparents, while his parents were on a vacation trip through the South
and Southwestern states.
George Meddaugh of Iron Ridge spent Thursday and Friday with his sister, Mrs.
Harry Kissling. He also visited his sister-in-law, Mrs. Neil Meddaugh and
nephew, Gordon Meddaugh and family. He had been to Glidden for a few days
visiting a friend.
Mrs. Elmer Kapfer attended the World Day of prayer at Chili United Methodist
Church Friday with the ladies from the Granton Church. Members from the Lutheran
and Catholic churches of Chili attended the services also.
Mr. and Mrs. David Vine and Mrs. Irving Stevens were Sunday dinner guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Urban.
Vicki Kissling, who attends college at Winona, Mn, spent from Tuesday until
Sunday with her parents, Mr. and mrs. Ernest Kissling for between quarter
sessions.
Mr and Mrs. Herman Dahnert were Sunday dinner and supper guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Dale Reinart.
Mrs. Jeanine Voigt, and family of Elkhorn spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Oliver Williams and sons.
Mr and Mrs. Lyle Cary of Sherwood called on Mrs. Art Odell Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams called on Mr. and Mrs. George Sherwood in
Neillsville Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dahnert attended the funeral
of Mrs. Emma Syth, 96, at Greenwood, Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer attended the Senior Citizens meeting in Neillsville
Tuesday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Merle Austin were Granton callers Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lincoln and son of Shirley, Mass., are expected to arrive for
a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lincoln and her parents in
Minneapolis. Jerry is in the service and expects to be sent to Germany soon.
Mrs. Lincoln and son will stay with her parents and Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln during
his absence. They were to leave Tuesday and were expected Saturday.
Bible Study will be held at the Rev. Ralph Schram home near Alma Center. It was
held at the Francis Jacobson home in Sherwood Thursday night.
