Syth, Emma E. (20 November 1877 - 26 February 1974)

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from Grace United Methodist Church, Greenwood, for Mrs. Jack (Emma) Syth, a resident of Neillsville Memorial Home who died February 26, at the age of 96. The Rev. Eugene Antrim officiated and burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery. The Hill Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

The former Emma E. Wollenberg was born November 20, 1877, in Wolcottville, N. Y., to Christian and Albertine (Wendt) Wollenberg. She left New York in 1880 with her parents and settled in Valley Creek, Mn. In 1885, the family moved to Greenwood.]

Her marriage to Jack Syth took place February 22, 1906, in Greenwood. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1954. After their marriage the couple farmed two miles south of Greenwood. In 1943 they moved to the city. Mrs. Syth had been a resident of Memorial Home for the past six years.

She is survived by two sons, Reynold of Greenwood and Donald of Eau Claire; and by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Arthur Christie, Dale Horn, Harold Blaasch, Gerald Denk, Leon Kuester and Lloyd Peterson. Gary Schultz, soloist, sang “beyond The Sunset” and “How Great Thou Art” accompanied by Mrs. Gary Schultz.

People from out of town who attended the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Donald Syth and Mr. and Mrs. Ardell Syth of Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Clark of Owen, and Mrs. Glenn Short, Mrs. Maxine Schmidt, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dahnert and Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart of Neillsville.
