Rueth, Leonard Joseph “Lenny” (30 June 1925 - 2 October 2015)
Leonard J. “Lenny” Rueth, 90, of Loyal passed away Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at
Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Leonard Joseph Rueth was born June 30, 1925, in Loyal to Frank and Bertha
(Schweiger) Rueth. He was raised on the family farm and received his education
at St. Anthony Catholic School. As a young man, Lenny worked at O. W. Trindal in
Loyal and later worked for the county out of the Loyal Garage. He was united in
marriage to Betty L. Matthews May 29, 1948, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. He
farmed with his wife and worked 43 years for Clark County as grader operator and
shop foreman until retiring in 1987.
He was a very active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Lenny had many
interests but especially love spending time with family and friends, deer
hunting, traveling, woodworking, playing sheepshead and cribbage and the Monday
card club at city hall.
Lenny will be dearly missed by his six children, Diane Courtney (Bill Neville)
of Neillsville, Andy Rueth of Neillsville, Debbie (Mike) Carew of Green Bay,
Jeff Rueth of Spring, TX, Tim (Jodi) Rueth of Neillsville and Rebecca (David)
Scherer of Loyal; 12 grandchildren: Darrel (Penny), Kevin, Natasha, Shawn, Dena,
Chad, Jessica, Kelsey, Krista, Karter, Brody and Leah; seven
great-grandchildren: Caitlin, Morgan, Rylee, Claire, Matthew, Johnathan and Ian;
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty, Oct. 7, 2009; one
daughter-in-law, Tracey Rueth; one brother, Franklin; and three sisters: Frances
Langfeldt, Rosie Beaver and Marion Elsinger.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at St. Anthony Catholic Church
in Loyal. Rev. Steve Brice officiated and burial followed in St. Anthony
Cemetery. Visitation was held at St. Anthony Catholic Church Monday, Oct. 5,
2015 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 7:30 prayer service, and again at the church
Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers were Darrell Courtney, Shawn Rueth, Ian Paulson, Caitlin Courtney,
Karter Rueth and Brody Scherer.
