Jackie Toburen, one year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Delmain Toburen, Greenwood
(Clark Co., Wis.), died at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Hospital of internal injuries
suffered Friday, June 20, 1970 in a truck-car crash on State Highway 98, about 4
miles east of Loyal. Her death raised the 1970 Clark County highway fatality
toll to eight.
The same accident also claimed the life of Jackie's brother, 6-year-old Michael
Lee Toburen, and hospitalized her mother and another brother, Mark 6, 6-year-old
twin of Michael.
The collision occurred at a crossroad leading from Highway 98 to the Wuethrich
Creamery. According to Clark County authorities, a truck owned by N.H. Casler of
Spooner approached the crossroad from the west and was making a left turn toward
the creamery when the right front of he car being driven by Mrs. Toburen struck
the right front of the truck.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel United
Church of Christ. Rev. David Logue, pastor, officiated, and burial was made in
the West Side Cemetery.
