Looker, Janet Darlene (Marriage - 2 March 1974)
Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen, was the setting for the March 2 wedding of
Miss janet Darlene Looker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Looker of Rt. 1 Withee,
and Jeffrey Joseph Greschner, son of Mrs. Joseph Greschner of Owen and the late
Mr. Greschner.
The Rev. George Becker officiated at the 1:30 p.m. ceremony, which was followed
by a dinner reception in the church parlors. That evening, a dance at the
American Legion Hall honored the newlyweds.
Presents in marriage by her parents, the former Miss Looker appeared in a gown
of white satin with an overlay of sheer organza. Victorian lace fashioned the
yoke and high collar, and wide bands of lace traversed the full length of the
gown and the sleeves. A lace ruffle formed the hemline. Lace also formed the
headpiece, holding a sheer nylon veil and full-length train edged with lace.
A sister of the bride, Mrs. Linda Panko of Toledo, Oh, was her matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were another sister, Mrs. Paul Abley of Barron, and a friend, Miss
Debi Geist of Stanley. Their high-necked gowns were styled with ruffled,
blue-flowered overskirts open in back to reveal solid blue underskirts.
Michael Greschner, brother of the groom, served as bestman. Groomsmen were
Richard Kincaid and Rodney Porath. Dennis Looker, brother of the bride and Tom
Greschner, cousin of the groom, shared ushering duties.
A 1971 graduate of Owen-Withee High School, the bride spent from July of that
year until the following July as an AFS program student in Belgium. She attended
the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh for a year, and has been employed recently
by a Thorp insurance firm. Her husband also graduated from Owen-Withee High
School; he attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Presently, he is
engaged in farming.
Following their return from a wedding trip to Florida, the couple will live on
the groom’s farm at Longwood.
