On Saturday, July 25, 1970, at 1:30 p.m., Sharon Lee Drews, Marshfield, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Drews, Rt. 3, Marshfield, exchanged wedding vows with
Gerald James Kobs of Spencer, son of Mrs. Edna Kobs of Spencer.
The ceremony took place in the Christ the King Catholic Church in Spencer, and
the Rev. Andrew Bofenkamp officiating.
The church was decorated with 2 altar bouquets of white gladiolas and purple
asters. The pews had clusters of purple asters, white carnations and white satin
ribbons.
The bride was seen in a floor length bridal gown of silk organza and taffeta,
with high neckline, long lady bishop sleeves, modified waistline with detachable
chapel train. She held a hand bouquet of white Phalaenopsis orchids, bridal pink
roses, stephanotis and baby breath tied with pink velvet streamers and her tiara
was made up of the same flowers.
The maid of honor was Miss Diane Drews of Wausau, and her bridesmaids were Miss
Kathy Kent of Sturgeon Bay and Miss Sharon Weister of Spencer.
The attendants were seen in floor length formals of silk organza, long bishop
sleeves, modified waistline. They carried a cascade of purple asters, purple
grapes and ivy.
The flower girl was Candy Jo Seitz and the ring bearer was Kenny Landwehr.
Best man was Bob Anderson of Spencer, and the groomsmen were Darrel Kobs of
Marshfield and Keith Trowbridge of Milladore.
Ushers were Charles Drews and Greg Landwehr.
A reception dinner and dance were held at the Village Plaza.
The bride is a 1966 graduate of Spencer High School and a 1970 graduate of WSU –
Stevens Point. She is employed at the St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield as an
assistant dietician.
Her husband is a 1964 graduate of Brainer Area Vocation and Technical School. He
is a florist at Kobs Blossom Shop in Spencer.
After returning from a wedding trip in northern Wisconsin, the couple will
reside in Spencer.
