Dahl, Genevieve W. "Jean" (2 FEB 1937 – 18 OCT 2015)
Genevieve W. "Jean" Dahl, 78, Wausau, formerly of Loyal, passed away on Sunday,
Oct. 18, 2015, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. A memorial service will be held at
10:30 a.m., on Thursday, Oct. 22, at York Center United Methodist Church, rural
Granton. Rev. Patsy Roe will officiate. Burial will follow in the church
cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church, on Thursday, from 9:30 a.m.,
until time of service.
Jean De Santo was born on Feb. 2, 1937, in Cook County, Ill., to Edward and
Donna (nee Seefeld) De Santo. She moved to Spencer, where she was raised by her
grandparents, Louis and Winifred Seefeld, and graduated from Spencer High
School. Jean married Alvin Ringquist on June 25, 1955, and they later divorced.
She worked at the A&P Store in Madison and later at the Ben Franklin Store and
Roddis Manufacturing in Marshfield. Jean married Alvin L. Dahl on Nov. 27, 1974,
in Illinois, and they resided in Loyal. Al and Jean purchased Zupanc Motors in
1987 and the school bus service in 1989, where Jean worked as the secretary and
bookkeeper for both businesses. She also drove school bus for 20 years. In 1994,
they sold the Ford dealership to Jensen Motors in Spencer, and in 2010, they
sold the bus service to Branstiters, in Greenwood. Jean moved to Wausau in
December 2014 to live with her daughter, Dawn. Jean was an active member of York
Center United Methodist Church in Granton, where she taught Sunday School, sang
in the church choir, and held many of the church offices. She had many
interests, but especially enjoyed camping, many crafts, sewing, gardening, her
flowers, milking cows for her neighbors when they went on vacation, and most of
all, spending time with her family.
Jean will be dearly missed by her children, Sue (Gary Forgeon) Ringquist, Lava,
Idaho, James (Lisa) Ringquist, Black Creek, Dawn Ringquist, Wausau, and David
(Deanna) Ringquist, Blackfoot, Idaho; one daughter-in-law, Cynthia Ringquist,
Plano, Texas; 12 grandchildren: Shannon (Grant) Rice, Jessica (Rob) Roth, Kade,
Andrew (special friend Amber), Micah, Terrell, Laurie (Dan) Ross, Megan (Jon)
Fietzer, Nathan, Blake, Bryan, and Ali; four great-grandchildren: Allison,
Ansley, Gabriel and Ryu; one brother, Raymond Neustedt, Riplinger; and one
brother-in-law, John Lanoue, Lancaster, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Donna and Arthur
Neustedt; her husband, Al, on Feb. 14, 2014; one son, Greg Ringquist; one
grandson, Samuel Ringquist; one brother, Gary Neustedt; one sister, Diana Lanoue;
and one daughter-in-law, Jane Ringquist.
