Many of our folks have had a nice vacation in warmer climates this winter. Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Laffe spent a month in Florida with her sister, Mrs. Gertrude
Hoogewind.
Mrs. Millie Trachsel enjoyed a trip to California to see her sister, then went
with her sister up the west coast to see their two brothers in Oregon. It was
the first time in 39 years the four had been together.
Mrs. Helen Putman has had surgery in a La Crosse hospital and expects to be home
soon, as she is coming along very well.
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Polege recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.
Their daughters came for them and a family get-together was held.
Mrs. Harriette Gorst spent last weekend in Albert Lea, Mn, with friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Zimmerman were in La Crosse Thursday and called on Mrs. Helen
Putman in the hospital.
Herman Mayer was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Sunday morning
for treatment.
Friends are very glad that Levi Fitzmaurice is no home and can get about the
house on crutches, after spending four months in a Rochester hospital.
Mrs. Freida Zerbel is spending a few days with her daughter, Mrs. LaVern
Kaufman.
Mrs. Laura Dignin spent the weekend in the home of her grandson, Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Bloom at Price.
Mr. and Mrs. Archie Kirby drove to Augusta Sunday to attend the 60th wedding
anniversary of their son-in-law’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Seuske.
Mrs. Millie Trachsel and Mrs. Beatrice Lang attended the art show in Neillsville
last Sunday.
Mrs. Johanna Olson celebrated her 89th birthday Monday. She is in fairly good
health, but doesn’t get about too much on account of the ice and snow.
Mrs. Gladys Lightfoot is home from a winter spent in Georgia with her sons.
Mrs. Ruth Van Gorden, Grand Electa of the Order of the Eastern Star, was a guest
of the local chapter Thursday night. Then she and her companion, Beulah Fisher,
called at the Henry Laffe home.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Clouse of Loyal spent the weekend at the Henry Laffe home.
Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett were dinner guests last Tuesday at the Lloyd Meyers
home in Neillsville.
More flu victims: both Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rupnow have been ill with it.
Mrs. Mariette Gorst was an overnight guest Wednesday of her daughter, Mrs. Glen
Colwell, in rural Hixton.
Mr and Mrs. Perle Pickett visited Saturday at the Floyd Dunn home in Shady Glen.
Callers Sunday at the Levi Fitzmaurice home were Worthing Barr of Colby and Mr.
and Mrs. Alton Stallard.
Mrs. Mary Raymond and son of St. Cloud, Mn, spent the weekend at the Levi
Fitzmaurice home and with Mrs. Gladys Lightfoot.
Mrs. Leo Janke, Mrs. Mary Ann Johnson and Mrs. Gladys Lightfoot attended a
funeral in Trempealeau Friday.
