Sunday, Aug. 16, 1970, a longtime resident of the city of Loyal (Clark Co.,
Wis.), Florence Davel, celebrated her ninetieth birthday.
The former Florence Baker was born just 90 years before at Seymour, Wis. On Oct.
8, 1902, she became the bride of Albert Davel in a ceremony at St. Balthasar's
Catholic Church, Loyal. They became the parents of 11 children: Lawrence and
Paul of Loyal, Edward of Lombard, Ill., Mrs. Evelyn Nolan and Mrs. Jayne
Simpson, both of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Katherine Bobb, Orlando, Fla., Mrs.
Madeline Kauczyk, Pulaski, Mrs. Marie Canney, Algoma, Mrs. Gertrude Phair,
Oshkosh, and Miss Martina Davel, Chicago, Ill. In addition, she is grandmother
to 38 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 21. Her husband Albert passed away
on sept. 11, 1969.
Remaining active and alert, she enjoys playing cards, and is a member of several
card clubs.
