Witzke, Edward (16 JAN 1886 – 10 JAN 1968)
Edward Witzke, 81, route 1, Edgar, died Jan. 10, 1968 at St. Joseph's Hospital,
Marshfield. Funeral services were held at St. John's Lutheran Church, town of
Wien, at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The Rev. David Schroeder officiated at the rites. Burial was made in the parish
cemetery.
The Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby, was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Witzke was born in Poland Jan. 16, 1886. He came to America in 1912,
settling in South Dakota, where he lived for a few years. He also worked for a
short time in Chicago, and in Canada. He then moved to the McMillan area, where
eh lived until 1924.
His marriage to Anna Mielke took place in 1925, and the couple lived in the town
of Frankfort.
His wife died Dec. 28.
Surviving are eight step-children, Mrs. August (Theresa) Kunkel of Stratford,
Otto Mielke, Colby, Mrs. Hulda Wolff, Colby, Mrs. Edwin (Ida) Nickels of Engadin,
Mich., Carl Mielke of Edgar, Mrs. Elmer (Anna) Bessler of Colby, Hugo Mielke of
Colby and Edward Mielke of Edgar. There are also 23 grandchildren and 50
great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a sister, Ida Fleming, living in Poland.
