Hanson, Louis (7 FEB 1878 – 17 JAN 1968)

Louis Hanson, 89, of 605 Sycamore St., Abbotsford, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 1968, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where he was a patient since Jan. 9. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First Baptist Church at Medford, with the Rev. Harold Hillegas officiating. Mrs. Mildred Hall was the organist and accompanist for Carl Grothkop and Jerry Arnds, all of Medford, who sang "Face to Face" and "I'll Live for Him." Burial was made in Medford Evergreen Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Melvin Gauerke of Abbotsford, Gary Hamm of Curtiss, Eldon Harris of Stetsonville, Enoch Michalsen of Rockford, Ill., Ole Michalsen of Chicago and Gordon Reierson of Medford.

Mr. Hanson was born Feb. 7, 1878, in Nannestad, Norway, and was educated there. His marriage to Karen Johnene took palce there in the early part of September 1904. Mr. Hanson came to Chciago in 1905 and in the fall of that same year went back to Norway to get Mrs. Hanson and infant son. They lived in Chicago where he was employed as a carpenter, and then for eight years as a street car motor man. In 1918 they came to the Wood County area, where they farmed for 10 years, and then returned to Chicago where he continued as a carpenter until his retirement in 1950.

In the spring of 1950 the Hansons and their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wood and family moved to a farm at Stetsonville. In 1954 Mr. and Mrs. Hanson came to make their home in Abbotsford.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Alf of Chicago and Carl of St. Paul, and a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Margaret) Wood, Stetsonville, and five grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his three sisters and two brothers.

Relatives attending the funeral from away came from St. Paul, Minn., Chicago, Rockford, Ill., Fontana and Stetsonville, Wis.
