Blake, Charles E. (1875? – 25 JAN 1968)
Charles E. Blake, 92, retired Soo Line engineer, died Thursday at Mercy
Hospital, Oshkosh. Interment was made in Lake View Memorial Cemetery, Oshkosh,
Saturday.
Mr. Blake was born in Dubuque, Ia., and came to Abbotsford in 1904as a
locomotive engineer. He was married to Clara Baker at Abbotsford in 1906.
Mr. Blake retired from railroading in 1949.
The Blakes lived at Athens and Marshfield, and after the death of Mrs. Blake in
11954, he made his home with a daughter, Geraldine.
He was a member of the Locomotive Engineers for 60 years.
He is survived by two daughters, in addition to Geraldine; Mrs. Fred (Joyce)
Lord, Presido, Calif., and Mrs. Ronald (Mildred) Valier, Las Vegas, Nev., and
one son, Melvin Blake, Stevens Point, a Soo Line engineer. There are nine
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Vera, and a son,
Robert.
