Simerson, Alfred (6 FEB 1914 – 8 FEB 1968)
Funeral services are being held today, Feb. 8, for Alfred Simerson, 54, Colby,
at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Mr. Simerson died at the Veterans Hospital at Tomah on Saturday, Where he had
been a patient.
The Rev. John B. Pinion will officiate at the services. Burial will be made in
the Catholic cemetery at Westboro. Military rites will be conducted by members
of the VFW posts of Colby and Abbotsford. A general rosary service was held
Wednesday evening at the Lulloff Funeral Home.
Alfred De Boise Simerson was born Feb. 8, 1914, at Westboro. He received his
education there. His marriage to Eleda Harriet Eck, who survives, took place in
Brooklyn, N.Y., Dec. 2, 1940. They had no children.
Mr. Simerson served overseas during World War II. For the past 10 years he had
been making his home with his brother-in-law and sister, Mrs. And Mrs. James
Wilde Sr. He was also hospitalized at Tomah during part of this time.
He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Colby VFW.
Survivors include a brother, Thomas Mathews of Milwaukee; three sisters, Mrs.
Bart (Dorothy_ Sullivan and Mrs. Matt (Elizabeth Schwind of Milwaukee, and Mrs.
James (Helen) Wilde Sr. of Colby, and three step-brothers and sisters, Mrs. Al
(Ethel) Bauer, Medford, William Mathews, Chicago,a dn Mrs. Rex (Ruth Ann)
Spurlock, Detroit, Mich.
A brother preceded him in death.
