Yessa, Carl H. (12 JUL 1919 - 2 NOV 2015)
Carl H. Yessa, 96, Schofield, died Monday, November 2, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau
Hospital.
He was born July 12, 1919 in the town of Johnson, son of the late Louis and
Alvina (Neuenfeldt) Yessa. On November 20, 1943, he married Alma Ann Stark in
Edgar. She preceded him in death on September 10, 1999.
In his younger years, Carl worked for the Nash Car Garage in Wausau, before
moving to West Allis where he worked as a diesel mechanic for Cummins Diesel
until his retirement in 1981.
Following retirement, he moved to Presque Isle to the home he built on the lake
and moved back to Schofield in 1989. He enjoyed fishing, especially in the boat
he built, spending time outdoors, camping and gardening. He also took great
pride as a master craftsman, builder and mechanic. Besides building his home and
boat, he also built several camping trailers, plant stands, and other household
furniture.
He was an excellent car repairman. He loved to cook and bake, especially cookies
and pies, and he was most fond of molasses cookies. Carl enjoyed traveling in
his motorhome with his family and grandchildren. Alma and Carl took camping
trips to Florida and Texas.
Survivors include, one daughter, Peggy (David Wong) Yessa, Madison; two
grandchildren, Kara Wong, Minneapolis and Ben Wong, Madison; and two
sisters-in-law, Elsie Meier, Wausau and Josephine Yessa, Colby.
Besides his parents and wife, Alma, he was preceded in death by two sisters,
Olga Gruening and Esther Kern; and one brother, Irvin. Funeral services will be
at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400
Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Rev. Joy Nelson-Jeffers will officiate.
Friends may call on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral
home. Entombment will be on Monday, November 9th at 10:00 a.m. in the Garden of
Eternal Life Mausoleum, Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield. Memorials may be
directed to the Palliative Care Unit at Aspirus Wausau Hospital or Benedictine
Living Community, Wausau.
