On June 12, 1948, Emil married Gladys E. Brecke and together they raised 6
children. He was an active member of the Farmers Union, Medford Cooperative,
Taylor County Credit Union, and Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Stetsonville. He
enjoyed playing baseball with the Gad team, watching the Green Bay Packers and
