Kayser, Van L. (11 September 1889 - 17 April 1974)

Van L. Kayser of Granton, a Clark County resident for over 40 years, died April 17 at Marshfield, at the age of 84. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Granton, with the Rev. William Noble of the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in the Windfall Cemetery.

Mr. Kayser was born September 11, 1889, at St. Genevieve, Mo., and was educated in Missouri schools. His marriage to the former Clara Hofert took place June 3, 1925, at Oak Park, Il. The couple lived at La Grande Park, Il., until 1933 when they moved to the Granton area. They farmed in the towns of Grant and York before moving to Granton in 1951. Mr. Kayser, a World War I veteran, was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Mrs. Garfield (Shirley) Freeberg of Eau Claire; a son, Allan Kayser of Waterloo; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by two sisters: Mrs. Sam (Eloise) Rankin of Lanham, Md., and Mrs. Elmer (Olivia) Anderson of Chicago, Il.

Pallbearers were: Roland Quicker, Durward Schwarze, Emil Tykac, Manford Cain, John Hammond and Emil Henninger. Mrs. Lee Garbisch was the organist.
