Meeker, George Henry (2 December 1937 - 5 November 2015)
George H. Meeker, 77, of Stanley, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2015, at
his home.
How do you say good-bye to someone who has been there to love and support you
your whole life? We are not sure but we are going to tell you how lucky we were
to have my Dad in our life.
On November 5, 2015 heaven gained an angel, George Henry Meeker, and we lost a
great person, our Husband, Father, and Grandfather. Everyone that had the
pleasure of meeting our Dad knew how great, caring and special he was. If you
didn’t get the chance to meet him we are sorry because you would have like him.
Dad was born December 2, 1937 in Stanley, Wisconsin and lived there his whole
life. He came from a large family; his parents Cecil and Edna, and seven
siblings: Waneta, Rose, Marvin, Chester, Lester, Judy and Sharon. He married
Mom, Ethel Draeger, on August 3rd and had been married 55 years. Three children
followed shortly afterwards, George, Susan and Deanne. Along came grandchildren:
Travis, Amanda, Nicole, Josh, Keri, T. J., Jordan and Logan, which meant more
people to teach how to fish. By fishing we mean a lot of tangled lines and lines
ending up in the trees and Dad not getting to fish much himself; but he was in
seventh heaven. He also had the pleasure of adding 11 great-grandchildren to his
family. He loved his huge family.
Dad liked to watch the Orioles play football until his health didn’t allow it.
He also loved the Packers. Watching the Packer games will always remind us of
Dad. If anyone came to visit, the cribbage board would always come out. I don’t
think anyone could count a cribbage hand as fast as him.
What will be missed the most is the phone calls ending with “Love you,” “Love
you too.” I guess I will not say good-bye to my Dad, but will end saying, “Love
you too.”
We are going to honor Dad’s wish and not have a visitation or funeral. The
Plombon Funeral Service in Stanley is assisting the family.
This is a complete obituary of the one that we have in part for Emma Albrecht of
Neillsville. You may be able to put this on the same page following what I had
sent in long ago.
