Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 20, 2015 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford with military honors performed by the Medford Klossner-Dietzler VFW Post #5729 Honors Team, Father Phil Juza will officiate.

Herb was born on May 20, 1913 in Whittlesey, to Carl and Kunigunde (Lizner) Brandner.

He attended Whittlesey primary school and then attended UW-Eau Claire and UW-Madison.

On February 22, 1941 in Wisconsin, Herb married the love of his life, Elinora H. Frey and she survives.

In 1954, Herb moved his family to Bellingham, WA where he started his career as an electrician. He then moved to Ketchikan, AK in 1957 until moving to Sitka, AK in 1959 where they lived for 31 years until he retired from Alaska Lumber & Pulp. After his retirement, Herb moved back to Bellingham, WA where they bought a motorhome and traveled all over the U.S., Canada and Mexico with their family and Alaskan friends and returned every summer to Medford. When they stopped traveling in 1999, they moved to Phoenix, AZ until 2009 when they returned to Medford and settled at Country Gardens. Herb was known as a jack of all trades and master of most since he was always tinkering with things in his shop and could be counted on to have one project or another going. He enjoyed reading, spending time with his family and friends and he loved to travel. When he returned to Medford, Herb would volunteer at the Medford Area Schools where he would share his stories with the kids about his travels.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Knights of Columbus, IBEW, and a lifetime member of the Elks Club.

Survivors include his wife, Elinora H. (Fry) Brandner of Medford; son Dale (Charmaine) Brandner of Whitmore Lake, MI; siblings Raymond Brandner of Medford, Rosemary (Bob) Warner of Whittlesey, Anna Packenham of Rib Lake and Rock Brandner of Milwaukee; sisters-in-law, Barbara Brandner & Rita Brandner both of Medford. Herb is further survived by too many nieces and nephews to count.

Herb is predeceased by his parents, Carl and Kunigunde (Lizner) Brandner; siblings Carl, John, Roman and Ralph Brandner; sisters Catherine Lamberty, Thecla Oestrich & Ida Scott.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Herb’s name to Holy Rosary Catholic School in Medford.

Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake are assisting the family with arrangements.
