Kowalewski, Vernon J. "Bud" (29 JUN 1930 - 12 NOV 2015)
Vernon J. "Bud" Kowalewski, age 85, of rural Owen, passed away on Thursday,
November 12, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital resulting from a car accident
suffered on October 28. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Tuesday,
November 17, 2015 from 2:00 until 6:00 pm at the Holway Town Hall.
Bud was born on June 29, 1930 in the Town of Holway, Taylor County, the son of
Joseph and Edna (Bernsee) Kowalewski. He attended Forest Grove School in the
Town of Holway. On August 25, 1956, Vernon was united in marriage to Marjorie
Boyles at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville. Together they farmed on
the family farm in Holway.
Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He also tended to his 400 plus apple
trees and his greenhouse. Bud enjoyed life and his friends and loved his family.
He was also on the Board of Directors for Clark County Dairyland Cooperative.
Bud is survived by his four children: Sally (Ronald) Konieczny of Owen, Gale
(Clifford Jr) Burke of Chelsea, Mark (Cindy) Kowalewski of Kevil, KY, and Lori
(Harold “Butch”) Brandt of Medford; 13 grandchildren: Shannon (Patrick) Loucks
of Curtiss, Shawn (Sara) Konieczny of Medford, Sherri (Dustin) Dmytro of Gilman,
Richard Tillson, Darla (Chip) Williams of Chelsea, Duska Burke of Chelsea,
Jessie Kowalewski of Stetsonville, Chrissy Kowalewski of Rib Lake, Justin
(Shannon) Kowalewski of Rib Lake, Alex Schneider, Michael Kowalewski of MN,
David (Alyson) Brandt of Stetsonville, and April Brandt of Marshfield; 19
great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two sisters: Francis (Clarence)
Smith of Medford and Katherine Boehlen of Stetsonville; a sister-in-law, Gloria
Hubbard of Ettrick and his brother-in-law, Carl Boyles of Owen; nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie on January 12, 2011;
his grandson, Timothy Tillson and a brother, Stanley Kowalewski.
