Wiese, Frank (20 SEP 1880 – 01 MAR 1968)
Frank Wiese, 87, Abbotsford, died at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, Friday,
of injuries sustained when he was struck by a car Sunday evening, Feb. 25, while
crossing Highway 13 in Abbotsford, near his home.
Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with
the Rev. Emil Hodnik officiating at the 10 o'clock mass of requiem. Burial was
made in the Abbotsford Cemetery.
A rosary service was held Sunday evening at the Polnaszek Funeral Home, where
the body lay in state.
Pallbearers were six grandsons: Ted Calmes, Jim Hallada, Val Lucas, Jerry
Schommer, Mike Wiese and Ronald Wiese.
Mr. Wiese was born Sept. 20, 1880 in Germany, and was three years old when his
parents came tot eh United States and settled on a farm near Dorchester. His
marriage to Maria Magdalena Elfert took place at Dorchester Sept. 1, 1908. After
their marriage the couple farmed in the Abbotsford area until 1937, when they
retired and moved to Abbotsford.
He is survived by eight children: three sons, Clarence, new Berlin, Kenneth,
West Allis, and Francis, Abbotsford; five daughters, Mrs. Val (Amelia) Lucas and
Mrs. Frank (Helen) Kust, Milwaukee, Mrs. Ervin (Esther0 Wunsch and Mrs. Norbert
(Margaret) Fredrickson, Butler, and Mrs. Nick (Evie) Schommer of Abbotsford; 16
grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Wiese preceded her husband in death March 27, 1965. A brother and a sister
also preceded him in death.
All of the children attended the funeral of their father. Other relatives
included Mr. and Mrs. Romaine Morehouse and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Miller of Mora,
Minn., Frank Elfert and Mrs. August Kramer and son-in-law and daughter of
Faribault, Minn., and others from Owen, Antigo, Marshfield, Stanley, Dorchester,
Colby, Abbotsford and surrounding area.
