Ziegler, Esther Eileen (19 August 1933 - 8 November 2015)
Esther Ziegler, 82, of Willard died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015, at Ministry St.
Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Esther Eileen Ziegler was born Aug. 19, 1933, in Humbird, the daughter of Carl
and Effie Mae (Hardwick) Greub. She graduated from Neillsville High School in
1951 and later was united in marriage to Louis Ziegler, Aug. 2, 1951, at the
Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Neillsville. They then moved to Willard
and lived with Louis’ parents while farming on the family farm. Over the years,
while helping on the farm, Esther also raised her family and cared for Grandma
and Grandpa. After her children were raised, Esther began doing volunteer
driving for the Social Services Department. She did this for over 25 years
before retiring. They sold the farm in 1978 but retained some of the land to
build a new house. Louis died Dec. 18, 1998.
Esther was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, its Ladies Aid
and its Women’s Guild. In her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling, fishing, yard
work and “fancy work” like crocheting, knitting and sewing. Her greatest
enjoyment, though, was spending time with her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
She is survived by three children: Wayne Ziegler of Rewey, Rick (Marcia) Ziegler
of Neillsville and Sharry (Bob) Barclay of Tyler, TX; seven grandchildren:
Sheila (Mark) Toensing, Seth (Pam) Ziegler, Holly (Jeff) Munion, Beth (Adam)
Mickelson, Loren Barclay, Keith (Laurgh Lee) Barclay and Jenni Barclay; nine
great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; a grandson, Joey Ziegler; a
daughter-in-law, Sandra; her parents; and a sister, Gladys Green.
Funeral services for Esther were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, at the
Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glove. Pastor John Warmuth officiated.
Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 8
p.m. Friday at the Gesche Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at
the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a
later date.
Online condolences may be made at
www.geschefh.com. The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Esther’s family
with funeral arrangements.
