Junior Kiwanian (November - 2015)

November Junior Kiwanian

Rebecca Anason

As a “global organization of volunteer dedicated to changing the world one child, and one community at a time,” Kiwanis International puts great value on the achievements of youth and seeks out opportunities to help them succeed in their pursuits. With this mission in mind, the Neillsville Kiwanis Club continues its long-standing Junior Kiwanian program, which spotlights the outstanding talents, commitment and achievements of local high school students.

The club is pleased to have Rebecca Anason as its Junior Kiwanian for the month of November. She is the daughter of Larry and Kay Anason and is a senior at Neillsville High School. She was introduced to club members by Kiwanian Herman Seebandt and will be participating in the Monday meetings during the month, along with doing a presentation on martial arts for the club.

Anason has been a member of the National Honor Society since 2011, is in the Creative Writing Club and has taken numerous advanced classes throughout high school. She is a four-year percussionist in the band, participating in solo and ensemble competition, and accompanied the choir on their Florida trip this year. In addition, she has been a piano student since 2008. A strong pursuit in the field of martial arts has led Anason to achieving advanced levels in several disciplines, and she has assisted in class instruction. In the community, she has volunteered her time at the Neillsville Library and The Highground.

The Junior Kiwanian program of the Neillsville Kiwanis Club gives recognition to outstanding senior students like Rebecca, who have attained academic excellence, demonstrated leadership abilities and made the most of their high school years. The program provides an introduction to the concept of a service organization, such as Kiwanis International, and encourages lifelong involvement in activities that support the youth of the community.

The members of the club welcome Rebecca Anason and look forward to her participation in their November meetings.
