Miss Elizabeth Bennenger of Mannendorf, Switzerland was a recent visitor at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Peterson. Miss Bennenger is on a teaching exchange
program in the United States for the next year. She is presently in Idaho, but
will be in different states, including Minnesota. She will be remembered by many
in the area, as she is a former exchange student of the Colby High School and at
the time made her home with the Peterson family.
Three daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Peterson are leaving this week to attend
schools. Debra Peterson will attend the Technical School at Stevens Point. Carla
will attend the Technical School at Wausau and Paula will resurne her studies at
River Falls State University.
Sharon Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Cook, returned home Saturday from
Pullman, Wash., after visiting her brother, Terry for the past two weeks. She
flew to Minneapolis and accompanied her brother, Jeffrey, who will spend the
weekend here. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Cook, Christopher and Jennifer, Kansas City,
Mo., arrived this weekend at the parental Cook home to spend part of their
vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Cook and their guests spent the weekend at Manitowish
Waters.
Women from Trinity Lutheran Church and from the Lutheran Church at Withee held a
retreat at the Utke cottage at Lake Mead, near Greenwood, on Wednesday, Sept. 3.
Those going from Unity were Mrs. Dora Ewert, Mrs. Harold Utke, Mrs. Gaylen
Rogers, Mrs. Robert Sutherland, Mrs. Adolph Rabel and Mrs. Art Schmidt.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meyer and daughter, Michelle, of Rock Island, Ill. came
Friday night to spend the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin
Hainzlsperger. Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Hainzlsperger Jr. of Milwaukee were also
visitors during the weekend.
Visitors at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Antone Korntved and Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Korntved over the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Breuer, Chicago and Mr. and
Mrs. Andrew Peters, Mishicot.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hendrix and sons, Fond du Lac, returned home Monday, after
spending the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Merton Bennett.
Recent visitors for a week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Hebert were Mr.
and Mrs. Allan Kosier and their newly adopted son, Frederick Francis of
Whitehouse, Ohio. Mrs. Kosier is the former Carol Hebert.
Mr. and Mrs. Duane Peterson and daughter, Neillsville, were Saturday overnight
visitors at the Francis Hebert home. They attended the 10 year class reunion of
Mr. Peterson’s class at Abbotsford, Saturday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Loughead and family, Fort Atkinson, spent the weekend at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Loughead. Mr. and Mrs. Loughead attended the reunion
of the Unity High School classes of 1949 and 1950 at the Redwood Club on
Saturday night.
Mr. and Mrs. John Bruecker and daughters, Lynette and JoEllen, Black Creek,
spent the weekend at the Stewart Salter home. Sunday they went to Sackett’s
Lake, where Mr. and Mrs. Alter were spending the weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Forrest Johnson.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Seiber and amily and Mr. and Mrs. George Dermrist returned to
Detroit, Mich. Monday, after spending the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Floyd Mills.
