Washburn (25 April 1974)

Old-timers used to say, “If it rained on Easter Sunday it would rain for seven Sundays.” We don’t really know if it always does work out that way; but we wonder if it does, if it will snow for seven Sundays, too. It it does I am afraid summer is quite a way off.

Mrs. Elmer Kapfer entertained the Cannonville Ladies Aid Wednesday with a good attendance. Visitors were Mrs. Bud Bremer, Mrs. Harold Elmendorf, Mrs. Frank Short, Mrs. Irving Stevens and Mrs. George Allbaugh. Get well cards were written and signed by members and visitors and sent to Mrs. Art Williams at Memorial Home and Mrs. Horace Rodman, who is a patient at Memorial Hospital for a few days. Next meeting will be held May 15. The place will be decided later.

Mrs. Art Williams suffered a stroke at Memorial Home Thursday and is a patient at Memorial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams called his sister, Mrs. Albert (Lefty) Zank, at Cedar Falls, Ia., Thursday night, and she arrived Friday to spend a few days with her mother, brother and sister-in-law.

Most of the neighbors attending the Judy Reinart-Ken Lonning wedding at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville and the reception and dinner at the American Legion Hall Saturday. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gale Lonning, who live near Globe.

Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Vandeberg and sons of Wisconsin Rapids, and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams and son, Marvin, went to Whitewater Saturday, where they attended the marriage of the Williams’ son, Wendell, to Jeanine Voigt. Wendell went on Thursday. George Gorbet assisted with their chores.

Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Trachte and family spent a recent weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Trachte. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Trachte and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Abrahamson and son, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Trachte and Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Boyer and son were recent dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Kurth. Mr. and Mrs. Kurth and family were guests of his sister and family in Appleton.

Mrs. Art Odell was a recent dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lincoln. Jean and Norma Lincoln, who spent a weekend with their parents, have returned to Minneapolis, where they are employed.

Mr. and Mrs. Art Short visited Tuesday and were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short.

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schultz of Wind Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schulz, arrived Wednesday and Thursday attended the funeral of their brother and uncle, Martin Reinart Friday. Saturday they attended the Reinart-Lonning wedding. They spent the weekend in their trailer home.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Feuerhelm and family of Hokah, Mn, Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart and family, Kent Lonning and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Reinart spent a day recently with Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dahnert. They surprised Mr. Dahnert in honor of his 80th birthday.

Mr. and Mrs. John Trogner, Jr., and family of Stoughton, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kuhn and daughter of Wisconsin Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rice and fami.ly and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kuhn and Rick were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Trogner, Sr.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Krause and daughters were recent guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louie Meier.

Mrs. Art Odell was a dinner guests Thursday of Mr. and Drs. Charles Havlicek.

Jean and Norma Lincoln of Minneapolis spent the weekend at Riverside Bible camp near Waupaca.

Mr. and Mrs. Claude Kyle called Monday at the Ralph Short home.

Mr. and Mrs. Dale Reinart, Mrs. George Allbaugh and Mrs. Paul Kuhn were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kalsow. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kuhn and Rick, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kuhn and daughter of Wisconsin Rapids, were callers there.

Mrs. Albert Lincoln and Mrs. Jerry Lincoln and son called on Mrs. Art Odell recently.

Mrs. Walter Trachte called on Mrs. Harry Hansen at the Robert Mortenson home, and on Mrs. Wanda Pretsch, Friday.

Mrs. Merle Austin called on Mrs. Art Odell Monday evening.

Bruce Spiegel of Wausau, and David of Milwaukee, spent their vacation with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Spiegel.

Bible study will be held at the Albert Lincoln home this (Thursday) evening.

Mrs. Ralph Short will entertain the Washburn Homemakers club May 8, with dinner served at noon.
