Ashbeck, Rodger A. (2 DEC 1950 – 25 NOV 2015)
Rodger A. Ashbeck, 64, Greenwood, passed away at his home on Wednesday, Nov. 25,
2015. Per his requests, no services will be held. Rodger was remembered during
the Prayers of Intercession at the 8:30 a.m. Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church,
Greenwood, on Sunday, Nov. 29.
Rodger Allen Ashbeck was born on Dec. 2, 1950, in Greenwood, the son of Richard
T. and Jane (nee Gilbertson) Ashbeck Sr. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School
and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1968. Right after graduation, he
started working at Greenwood Milk Products in Greenwood. Rodger married his high
school sweetheart, Barbara F. McFarlane, on Oct. 11, 1969, at Holy Family
Catholic Church in Willard. In 1976, he purchased Elmdale Cheese Factory, which
he owned and operated for several years. After selling the factory, Rodger went
to work for Dairy Farmers of America as the area manager for northern Wisconsin,
all of Minnesota and the Dakotas. In 2001, he went to work for Grassland Dairy
in Greenwood, as manager of milk procurement. He was a member of St. Mary’s
Catholic Church and served on the Clark County Board of Supervisors for the last
few years. Rodger had many interests, but especially enjoyed hunting, fishing,
gofing and playing cards. He especially enjoyed teaching his grandsons how to
golf.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Barbara, Greenwood; his children, Karen
(Brian) Cliver, Marshfield, Ryan Ashbeck, Greenwood, and Cheri Ashbeck, West
Allis; three grandchildren, Keagan and Jessob Cliver, and Ridge Ashbeck; his
mother, Jane Ashbeck, Loyal; one sister, Linda (Edward) Volovsek, Willard; one
brother, Roderick Ashbeck, Greenwood; one sister-in-law, Carol Ashbeck, Edgar;
and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard T. Ashbeck Sr., and one brother,
Richard T. Ashbeck Jr.
