Humbird (25 April1974)
The Cancer Crusade for the Town of Mentor and Humbird has been completed. The
chairman was Verna Flood, who reports $197.80 turned over to the county. Her
helpers were: Mrs. Ronald Flood, Louise Stauton, Dolly Sheffer, Minnie Bell,
Tracy Bemis, Henry Laffe, Violet Hardwick, Kada Fitzmaurice, Janet Barney, Dora
Minney, Lena Harris, and Lottie Flynn.
Rain, mixed with snow, dreary, but April showers bring May flowers.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Burrington of Elk Mound were overnight guests Saturday of his
sister, Mrs. DeWayne Parent.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Raymond and children of Deerfield visited Satruday at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Fitzmaurice.
Mrs. Frieda Zerbel spent Sunday afternoon at the Arnold Matti home.
The Happy Hour Homemakers club met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs.
Willard Stanley. The lesson on “Insects” was given by Mrs. Rudy Aeschbacher.
Mrs. Matie Smith returned Tuesday from a visit to the Everett Smith home in
rural Spencer and is now in her home here.
Mr. and Mrs. Rolla Sieg of Fairchild and Mrs. Laura Dignin were dinner guests
Sunday at the Bernard Sieg home honoring Rolla Sieg’s’ birthday.
Mrs. Anita Markham was a guest from Tuesday until Sunday at the Sylvester Taylor
home in Mosinee.
Ralph Finnegan of Burlington was a brief visitor Saturday at the Arnold Matti
home.
Mrs. DeWayne Parent and Steven visited Friday at the home of her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Pirl Burrington, in Thorp. Friday evening Mrs. Parent and her mother
attended a mothers’ and daughters’ banquet at the Baptist Church in Greenwood.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Nibbe of Hobart, Ind., brought her mother, Mrs. Kate Dignin,
home Saturday after spending the winter with them.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brown of Neillsville visited Sunday afternoon at the Levi
Fitzmaurice home.
Mrs. Emma Gerber was a dinner guests Sunday at the Rudy Aeschbacher home.
Mr and Mrs. Roy Johnson and girls were dinner guests Sunday in the home of her
brother, George Zuehlke, Jr., in Loyal, honoring the birthdays of the Zuehlke’s
little son and also of Oscar Johnson of Taylor. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson of Taylor
and Mr. and Mrs. George Zuehlke, Sr., of Loyal were present.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Nibbe of Hobart, Ind., called Saturday afternoon at the Levi
Fitzmaurice home.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Blank of Milwaukee are spending a few days at the home of
her brother, Rudy Aeschbacher.
Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett spent Saturday evening at the Clarence Larson home in
Hixton.
The Admitters Club held their monthly meeting Friday afternoon and had a speaker
from the Clark County Social Services department.
Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett were Sunday evening callers in the Fred Rupnow home.
