Davel, Florence (16 August 1880 - 25 April1974)

Services were held Saturday from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal for Mrs. Florence Davel, 93. Burial was made in the parish cemetery. She died Thursday at her home. The Rinka Funeral Home was in charge.

The former Florence Baker was born August 16, 1880, in Seymour and received her education in Loyal, being a graduate of the first four-year high school in 1898. After teaching rural schools for about three years, she was married to Albert Davel on October 8, 1902, and lived in Loyal since.

Her husband operated a grocery store from 1907 until 1947, when he sold to their son, Lawrence, who retired in 1968.

Survivors include three sons: Lawrence and Paul of Loyal, and Edward of Lombard, Il.; eight daughters: Mrs. Evelyn Nolan and Mrs. William (Jane) Simpson, both of Minneapolis; Mrs. Scott (Marie) Canney, Algoma; Mrs. Alfred (Gertrude) Phair, Oshkosh; Miss Martina Davel, Loyal; Mrs. James (Katherine) Babb, Orlando, Fla.; Mrs. Lucian (Madeline) Krawczyk, Pulaski; and Mrs. Alvin (Dorothy) Schmoork, Madison. Other survivors include a brother, James Baker of Minneapolis; and two sisters, Mrs. Lulu Gustafson of Minneapolis and Mrs. Nell McKeegan of Long Beach, Calif.; 38 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
