Mr. Carl C. Hoehne of the C.C. Hoehne Hardware Co., Greenwood (Clark Co.), Wis., has been selected to receive the Estwing Gold Hammer Award for having served the hardware industry for a half century or more.

This award, sponsored by the Estwing Mfg. Co., Rockford, Ill., is a genuine Estwing forged-in-one-piece and leather gripped unbreakable hammer, finished in 14 karat gold, and is attached to a beautifully grained plaque with the inscription, " Estwing Gold Hammer Award for 50 years' service to the hardware industry."

The award is one which Mr. Hoehne will cherish during his lifetime.

Mr. Charles Hoehne, was born in Reeseville, Dodge County, Wis. on Jan. 31, 1870, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hoehne.

In September 1902 Mr. Hoehne came to Greenwood and purchased the hardware store and business of Edward Carpenter. The building was built by Dave Justice in 1893. Mr. Justice was the first Mayor of Greenwood.

On June 7, 1903 Mr. Hoehne was married to Lena Runkel at Reeseville, Wis. They came immediately to Greenwood, where he has resided ever since. Mrs. Hoehne passed away in 1954.

Mr. Hoehne has two sons, George and Julius, who have been in the hardware business with him all their lives, and two daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Ilma) Braatz, Greenwood, and Mrs. Oscar (Nelda) Dyre, Moorhead, Minn. Also a 8 grandsons and one granddaughter.

Three of his grandsons also are connected with the business.
