Floyd Olsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Christ Olsen, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), was
ordained into the ministry of the American Lutheran Church Sunday, June 9, 1957
at a 10:30 a.m. service in Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal.
Ordaining Mr. Olsen was the Rev. J.G. Pfohl, pastor. The Rev. Richard Bahe,
Grace Lutheran Church, Nasonville, preached the sermon and Rev. Theodore Diemer,
Loyal, also assisted at the service.
Mr. Olsen was baptized and Confirmed in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in
Greenwood (Clark Co.). He graduated from Loyal High School in 1945 and then
attended Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa, from which he received a bachelor of
arts degree in 1953. His theological training was received at Wartburg Seminary,
Dubuque, Iowa, where he graduated May 29, 1957, with a Bachelor of Divinity
degree. During his seminary training he served his internship at Messiah
Lutheran Church, Los Angeles, Calif.
He was united in marriage to Beverly Paasch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin
Kobs, Marshfield, Aug. 22, 1953. They have two sons, Christian, 2 years old, and
Timothy, 4 months old.
The Rev. Mr. Olsen has accepted the pastorate of Immanuel and St. John's
Lutheran Church on route 1, Wausau.
Floyd is a grandson of Mrs. Annie Dyre of Greenwood and is well known here.
