McConnell, Mr./Mrs. Robert (Gold – 12 JUN 1957)
On Saturday, June 16, 1957 Mrs. Arnold Huber, Milwaukee and Mrs. Ole Sather
entertained relatives and a few friends at dinner at the Sather home in honor of
the Golden Wedding Anniversary of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert McConnell.
The date was June 12th, but was celebrated on Sunday.
Bell Peterson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Peterson, and Robert McConnell
were united in marriage by Rev. Hendren in the Presbyterian parsonage (now the
Charles Ludwig home) at 8:00 p.m. on June 12, 1907.
The attendants were Libbie McConnell, sister of the groom, and Free Christie.
They also attended the Golden wedding, but as Mr. and Mrs. Free Christie of
Neillsville.
Mrs. McConnell was born in Neillsville, but came to Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.)
when a small child, with her parents, and settled on a farm 2 miles southwest of
Greenwood. The farm is now occupied by Lloyd Peterson. Mr. McConnell was born in
the Town of Eaton on the Twenty Six Road. They have spent their entire lives in
this area.
Mr. and Mrs. McConnell have two daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Edna) Hubert, Milwaukee,
and Mrs. Ole (Mable) Sather, Greenwood, and a son, Roy, of Beloit. They also
have 3 grandchildren.
Mrs. McConnell has a brother, Ed Peterson, in Monterey Park, Calif., and Mr.
McConnell has two sisters, Mrs. Free Christie, Neillsville, and Mrs. Isabell
Morgan, Tacoma, Wash.
Those present at the dinner Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hubert and daughter
Lavonne, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Free Christie, Neillsville; Mrs. Wm. Hubert,
Arpin, Mrs. Esther Peterson and Mr. and Mrs. Ole Sather.
Callers at the McConnell home on Wednesday, June 12th were Mr. and Mrs. James
McConnell, Mrs. Esther Peterson, and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Peterson.
