Schweinler, M. C. “Doc” (26 May 1908 - 26 April 1974)
A Neillsville native, M. C. (Doc) Schweinler, 65, died April 26 at his rural
Lake Geneva home following a long illness. Funeral services were held Monday
from the lake Geneva United Methodist Church with the Rev. L. Keith Hanley
officiating. The Derrick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Schweinler was born may 26, 1908, in Neillsville to Frederick W. and Lillian
(Creviere) Schweinler. He graduated from Neillsville High School and Attended
Ripon College. His marriage to the former Evelyn M. Anderson took place April
15, 1957, in Racine.
He had been a Lake Geneva resident since 1960, moving there from Racine. Prior
to his retirement in June of 1973, he was employed 44 years by the Wisconsin
Telephone Company, serving as manager of the Lake Geneva area office. Mr.
Schweinler was past president of the Badger Gateway Council of Telephone
Pioneers of America and of the Lake Geneva Chamber of Commerce. He was a member
of the Burlington Rotary Club, the Lake Geneva Art Association, The Elks Lodge,
and the United Methodist Church, and was a past member and chairman of the
Geneva town board and a former second ward alderman for Lake Geneva. He was also
a past member of the Kiwanis Club, the Lions Club and several Masonic orders.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a stepson, William Weiler of
Shorewood; two sisters: Mrs. Herman Lynch of Mauston and Mrs. Earl Bruhn of
Neillsville; three brothers: Francis of Madison, Dale of Cape Coral, Fl., and
DeWayne of Elroy; and a grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
