Stabnow, Walter Samuel (4 July 1885 - 2 May 1974)
Walter Samuel Stabnow, 88, of Greenwood died last Thursday in Neillsville.
The son of William and Johanna (Kleinschmidt) Stabnow, he was born July 4, 1885,
in Hecla, S. D. He came to Greenwood with his parents at 15 years of age and had
resided here until a year ago, when he entered Memorial Home in Neillsville.
He was married to the former Theresa Gries on October 17, 1911, at Greenwood.
She died February 12, 1965.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ted (Imogene) Ampe of Neillsville; two sons,
Walter W. of St. Paul, Mn, and Lawrence H. of Cordova, Alaska; nine
grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold Stabnow of
Greenwood.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in
Neillsville. The Rev. Charles C. Brady officiated. Burial was made in the parish
cemetery.
People from a distance attending included: Mr. and Mrs. Walter W. Stabnow of St.
Paul, Mn; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lindner of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Gene Stiefvater
of Wauwatosa; and Dale Stabnow of Baraboo.
