Intended for last week:
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Greub and children of River Falls spent a weekend recently
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Greub.
Mr. Lillian Squires of Merrillan called at the Kate Dignin, Chester Baily and at
the Dick Matti homes recently.
Mr. and Mrs. Al Kirby were called to Sebeka, Mn, by the death of her sister,
whom she had just recently spent a few days with.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe spent a recent weekend at the Ben Clouse home at Loyal.
Mrs. Helene Nelson and Mrs. Hilda Schneider of Eau Claire visited recently at
the Newton home.
Mr and Mrs. Taude of Eau Claire visited recently at the Levi Fitzmaurice home.
Mrs. Azure Osborne was a hospital patient in Marshfield several days recently.
Reports are she is feeling much better.
Mr. and Mrs. Levi Fitzmaurice were in Rochester recently, where he had a checkup
at the hospital and received very good reports.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Sieg entertained recently at a birthday dinner in honor of
her grandmother, Mrs. Laura Dignin. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bloom and
children and Mrs. Theo Bloom of Price and Mrs. Laura Dignin.
Recently, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Stollard, Mrs. Eva Laffe, Mrs. Joy Sieg, Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Zimmerman, Mrs. Anita Markham and Mrs. Thane Joos of Alma Center were
guests of the Fairchild Chapter of O.E.S. at their annual review.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hinkley called recently at the home of Mrs. Anita Markham.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Holub of rural Hatfield spent a recent evening at the Levi
Fitzmaurice home.
Mrs. Gladys Lightfoot recently spent a day at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leo
Janke.
Mr. and Mrs. Dewayne Parent and family visited recently at the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pirl Burrington of Thorp.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Zerbel recently spent an evening at the home of his mother,
Mrs. Freida Zerbel.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Eisberner spent a recent eyeing at the Dewayne Parent home.
Mrs. Thane Joos of Alma Center and Mrs. Maude Newton drove to Neillsville
recently and called on Mrs. Niva Stuve, who is in Memorial Home.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe were recent supper guests of his sister, Mrs. Emma Hoag
and Leonard in rural Melrose.
Mrs. Alton Stollard was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire recently.
Mrs. Earl Zimmerman injured her right arm while at work and is now threatened
with a blood clot in her arm. She will be unable to work or use her arm for four
weeks.
Walter Swallen and daughter, Mrs. Herbert Dasiter and son of Amery were here
recently, calling on old friends, among who were: Mrs. Frieda Zerbel, Art
Christen and Mrs. Emma Gerber. Mr. Swallen was cheesemaker in the old Spring
Brook Factory.
Mrs. Thane Joos of Alma Center, Mrs. Harold Losey of Fairchild and Mrs. Maude
Newton called on Miss Cora Follet in Fairchild recently in honor of her 85th
birthday.
Mrs. Carol Burkhalter and Mrs. Breitenfeldt of Rockford, Il., came to spend a
few days at the home of Mrs. Johanna Olson. They attended the Confirmation of
Mrs. Alvina Olson’s oldest son in Hixton and a family dinner. Mrs. Olson and
guests visited members of the family and then spent the evening at the home of
Mrs. Beatrice Lang.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Trachsel visited recently at the Dewayne Parent home.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Johnson and daughters were guests recently of his brother,
Donald Johnson, in rural Taylor, and attended the Confirmation of his oldest
son.
Mrs. Norman Nibbe left for her home in Hobart, Ind., Wednesday after spending a
week with her mother, Mrs. Kate Dignin.
Mr. Clarence Buttke of rural Milwaukee drove here Wednesday to spend the day
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Polege.
Mrs. Ernest Matti of Eau Claire spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Arnold
Matti.
Mr and Mrs. Werner Zimmerman and two friends of Monroe called Thursday at the
John Greub home. They were on the way to their cottage in northern Wisconsin.
Friday a group of ladies - Mesdames, Alyce Gearing, Edith Smith, Beatrice Lang
and Millie Trachsel helped Mrs. Johanna Olson celebrate her birthday by having a
birthday supper with Mrs. Olson at the Wildcat Inn.
Mrs. Gladys Lightfoot spent Sunday at the Levi Fitzmaurice home.
Monday afternoon, Mrs. Norman Nibbe of Hobart, Ind., Mrs. Laura and Kate Dignin
and Mrs. Beatrice Stuve visited Mrs. Delores Oligney in rural Black River Falls.
Mr. and Mrs. Harland Meyers of Cedar Falls, Ia., came Friday and were overnight
guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Polege.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Eisberner were supper guests Sunday at the Dewayne Parent home.
Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett came home Monday night from a long weekend visit with
her relatives in Iowa.
Ray Leinwander is having the back porch on his house converted into an extra
room, as his home is quite small.
Mrs. Thane Joos of Alma Center and Mrs. Maude Newton were in Eau Claire Friday
afternoon and called on Mrs. Helen Nelson.
Sunday, Mrs. Kate and Mrs. Laura Dignin attended the worship service and potluck
dinner at the old Tindahl School. About 90 attended.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Theiler entertained at a birthday party in honor of her
mother, Mrs. Wilbur Breheim. Present were the family of the Brehiems and Mr. and
Mrs. Perle Pickett.
Mrs. Lottie Flynn, Mrs. Matie Smith, Mrs. Emma Gerber and Art Christen attended
a smorgasbord dinner at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fairchild.
Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett took their granddaughters, Julie, Candy and
Catherine Burnett, fishing at Smith’s pond, near Sechlerville, and had a picnic
dinner.
Raymond Stuve and Nordahl Fristad were in Neillsville Sunday to call on Mrs.
Stuve, who is in Memorial Home. On their way back they stopped at the Markham
home to see how she was. She is slowly recovering from a painful rib fracture.
Cary Austin of Beloit was an overnight guest Satruday of his grandmother, Mrs.
Laura Dignin.
Mr. and Mrs. Neil Hein of Chipita Park, Co., and his father, Will Hein of Scott
City, Ks., came Sunday to spend a shot time in the Hein cabin; to look after
business affairs here; and to call on Mr. Hein’s old friends. Mrs. Hein was not
well enough to make the trip.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe called Sunday at the Orin Wold home in Disco, and at
the home of Mrs. Ida Wold in rural Black River Falls.
