Maatta, Edna M. (Stenseth) (23 APR 1922 - 17 DEC 2015)
Edna M. Maatta, age 85, of 389 Soumi Road, Ogema, WI, Township of Hill, Price
County, Wisconsin, died on Thursday, December 17 at River Falls Area Hospital,
River Falls, where she had been a patient for the past day.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 22 at the
Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church, 4914 Holmes Street, Ogema, WI, with Rev.
Ray Kovala, officiating.
Interment will be at Leavitt Creek Cemetery, Township of Hill, Price County.
Pallbearers are Randy, Scott and Dan Bergman, Paul Frankki, Curtis and Cory
Kyllonen.
Visitation will be at 9 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on Tuesday,
December 22 at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church, Ogema.
Edna was born on September 4, 1930, Ogema, to Albert and Haydee Marie (Newfors)
Bergman.
She received her education at Leavitt Creek School, Town of Hill.
One May 28, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Unity, WI, Edna married John
Matthew Maatta. He preceded her in death December 1, 2003.
After her marriage, she worked as a homemaker & mother. They dairy farmed in the
Town of Hill for many years until retirement in 1986. Throughout her life she
was a caregiver for many family members. She enjoyed fishing, puzzles,
crocheting, shopping and baking.
Edna was a member of Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church, Ogema.
She is survived by her children, Mark Maatta of Ogema, Robert (Julie) Maatta of
Woodbury, MN, Mary Maatta of Rhinelander; grandchildren Elizabeth & Kayla Maatta
of Woodbury, MN; siblings Robert Bergman of Ogema, Ralph (Joyce) Bergman of
Grand Rapids, MN, sister-in-law Gladys Bergman of Ogema.
Further survived by several nieces/nephews, other friends and a host of brothers
and sisters in faith.
Edna is predeceased by her parents, Albert and Haydee Marie (Newfors) Bergman;
siblings Verna Kyllonen, Melvin and Russell Bergman; half brothers and half
sisters Elma Frankki, Frans and Eino Leino, Arthur, Adolph and Bernice Bergman,
Viola and Adeline D’Amico, Eleanor Nuutinen, and Miriam Bush.
