Stoll, Ellis E. (19 June 1940 - 18 December 2015)
Ellis E. Stoll, 75, passed quietly into the waiting arms of his Savior Friday,
Dec. 18, 2015 at the Marshfield Ministry Health Care.
Ellis was born June 19, 1940, at the home of his grandparents in Columbia, MS,
where he spent the first five years of his life before coming to Wisconsin with
his parents.
In 1965, Ellis married Barbara Iverson. At that time he was employed in Chicago,
so he began a weekly commute to Wisconsin - a trip that eventually totaled over
2 million miles when he retired from Ashland Chemicals after 34 years with the
company, retiring as plant distribution manager.
After retirement, Ellis busied himself with many creative projects, among them
the art of stone masonry. Using his talents and patience with artistic detailed
skill, he created beautiful handmade musical instruments and needlework that
were often the gifts of many.
His church, being an important part of his life, received as a labor of love
some of his gifts of carpentry.
The collection of hunting stories he shared about the whitetail season, an event
always anticipated eagerly and shared with family members and friends, could
rival those of any entertainer and were usually told with humor and always with
a “happy ending.”
Travels to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Hawaii and Thailand were a particular
joy, especially since destinations were to meet with special family members
Michael and Dora Jaje.
Ellis is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; three brothers: Robert, John
(Trish) and Brad; a beloved grandson, Stephen; sisters-in-law, Carol (Dick),
Micky (Jake); many caring nieces, nephews and cousins; and a multitude of
wonderful friends and neighbors. He will be greatly missed by all.
A Memorial service celebrating Ellis’ life will be held at a later date at
Merrillan Methodist Church with Pastor Meg Erickson officiating.
