Navy Ensign Milton A. Lenz, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton H. Lenz of route 2,
Colby, and husband of the former Kathleen J. White, route 2, Maiden Rock, made
six carrier qualification landings about the aircraft carrier USS Lexington in
the Gulf of Mexico.
Prior to making the landings he was required to qualify on field carrier landing
strips made to simulate an actual carrier’s flight deck. Here he learned to
adjust himself to the restricted area on which he must land at sea.
As a member of the Navy’s “Flattop Fraternity,” he is now qualified to proceed
to more advanced stages of aviation training.
