Stelzel, Alvin (26 MAY 1897 – 1 JAN 1969)

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 4 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Abbotsford for Alvin Stelzel, 71, Abbotsford, who died Wednesday, January 1, 1969 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, of an apparent heart attack. The Rev. Emil Hodnik officiated and burial was made in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were made by Polnaszek Funeral Home.

Mr. Stelzel was born May 26, 1897, in Dorchester, where he also received his education. He married Hatti Rackow November 18, 1926. The couple operated a farm in the town of Holton until November of this year, when they moved to Abbotsford.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Gary of Warren, Mich.; one grandchild; two sisters, Otelia Stelzel and Mrs. Harriet Wenke, both of Stevens Point; and two brothers, Louis and Martin, both of Dorchester.

Pallbearers were Ray Stelzel, Jim Reynolds, Jerry Reynolds, Tom Reynolds, Gerald Stelzel and Lawrence Stelzel.
