Greenwood (16 May1974)
The Senior Citizens of Greenwood will meet tonight (Thursday) at 7 o’clock in
Clark Electric auditorium. Hostesses will be Mrs. Norman Heidemann, Mrs. Otto
Kahlepp and Mrs. Georgia Kuehnast.
The Ladies Aid of Trinity Lutheran Church will meet today (Thursday) at the home
of Mrs. Douglas Groenewald in Withee.
Robert Lulloff of Neillsville will be the guest speaker at the Sunday morning
worship services at 9:30 a.m. at the Zion United Church. There will be no Sunday
school or confirmation class.
The American Legion Auxiliary will meet in the Legion Hall Monday evening.
Installation of officers will be held. Mrs. Hazel Helwig will be the installing
officer. Hostesses will be Mrs. Irvin Carl, Mrs. Laverne Brown, Mrs. Pete
Bogdonovich and Mrs. George Caliebe.
The 12th annual ministers’ wives retreat of the northwest United Church will be
held at Appleton May 21 and May 22.
Mrs. Palmer Vinger and Mrs. Don Warner visited Saturday in Eau Claire at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Telford.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Horn of Wausau spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Gust
Horn, and attended the funeral of Jerome Horn Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Stewart have returned after spending several days in
Rochester, Mn, with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Humke.
Mrs. Katherine Lindner was admitted Tuesday to the hospital in Marshfield.
Forest Queen Royal Neighbors met Tuesday afternoon in Zion United Church. Miss
Louise Keiner presided. “Thank You” Notes were received from Mrs. Thomas
Erickson, Mrs. Margaret Smaldone and Mrs. David Rakestraw. Mrs. Robert Clintsman
gave a report on a visit from the district R.N.A. deputy, Mrs. Lois Davidson of
Osseo. Following the meeting games were played and prizes were awarded to Mrs.
David Rakestraw, Mrs. Thomas Erickson and Miss Ivy Moore. A lunch was served by
Mrs. Kate Susa. The next meeting will be held June 3, with Miss Ivy Moore as
hostess.
Mr. and Mrs. Verne Vollrath of Janesville were called here by the death of her
brother, Jerome Horn. Mrs. Vollrath remained for an extended visit with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Horn.
The Bible Study group met Thursday morning in Black River View apartments, with
Miss Ruth Verhulst as hostess.
George Humke was admitted to the hospital in Marshfield last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Johnson and daughter, Marian, and his mother, Mrs. Olaf
Johnson, attended the confirmation of their granddaughter and
great-granddaughter, Jeanette Schmidt, in Vesper Sunday, and later were guests
at the Schmidt home.
Mrs. Olaf Johnson, Mrs. Amy Hendrickson, Mrs. Otto Voie, Mrs. Val Stewart, Mrs.
Tom Erickson and Mrs. David Danielson visited Monday afternoon at the home of
Mrs. Edwin Hegenbarth.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Sorenson and sons, Keith and Tim, of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Nielsen and daughters, Darla and Lisa, of Middleton, Mrs. Jack Kruschek,
daughter Diane and son David of Waunakee, Mrs. Leon Tieman and Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Bogdonovich and sons, Dean and Darin, of Greenwood, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice
Nielsen of Oregon, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Karlen and daughter Pamela and Mr. and
Mrs. Randy Karlen and daughter, Stacy, of Stanley, held a surprise party
honoring their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mrs. Edwin Hegenbarth
at the Black River View apartments Saturday. The group was entertained Sunday at
the Marvin Karlen home in Stanley.
Leonard Caliebe and Mrs. Fred Caliebe of Appleton and Mrs. Tillie Reinke of
Neenah spent several days here with their brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. George Caliebe.
Mrs. Lloyd Stewart and children left last Thursday for Amarillo, Tx, to be with
her mother, Mrs. Marie Gantt, who underwent major surgery earlier.
Mr. and Mrs. Randall Schoonover and daughters, Michelle, Janeen, Katrina Lynn of
Monrovia, Md., visited Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stewart.
